There’s something about garden weddings that just feels like magic. The soft blooms, warm golden light, and the quiet moments away from the bustle of the day — it all creates the perfect setting for romantic, timeless wedding portraits.

A few years ago, I had the joy of photographing Katina and Bonny’s beautiful garden wedding at Lucy’s Garden in Ridgefield, Washington. Even without every little detail from their day, what stands out most is how effortless, intimate, and genuine their portrait time felt.

Why Couple Portrait Time Matters

Your wedding day moves so quickly. Between getting ready, greeting guests, and hitting the dance floor, it’s easy to forget to pause and soak in the moment with the person you just married.

That’s why I always encourage couples to set aside intentional time for portraits together. Katina and Bonny’s session was the perfect example. We found a quiet spot tucked away in the garden where the light filtered softly through the trees, and they got to breathe, laugh, and just be together.

These moments always become some of my favorite images from any wedding day — the kind you’ll frame and come back to again and again.

The Beauty of a Garden Wedding

Garden weddings have a way of feeling both classic and wildly romantic. The natural beauty of the setting adds so much texture and softness to your wedding photos without needing much extra decor.

For Katina and Bonny, the lush greenery, climbing blooms, and soft evening light created a dreamy, European-inspired backdrop for their portraits. The organic, slightly wild nature of the garden paired beautifully with their elegant style and natural connection.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels timeless, romantic, and a little bit enchanted, a garden setting is one of my favorite options.

Light, Romantic, and True-to-Color Photography

As a wedding photographer, I’m always chasing those quiet, sun-soaked corners where light wraps around my couples just right. Katina and Bonny’s portraits were filled with that dreamy, natural glow — capturing their joy and connection in a way that feels effortless and true.

I believe your wedding photos should feel timeless, natural, and genuine. No heavy filters, no trendy edits — just beautiful, light-filled images that reflect the honest beauty of your day.
